In Legal Studies, you have an opportunity to look at the Australian legal system. You will get the chance to read and analyse old cases, discuss and debate current and historical legal issues and even maybe create your own laws. You will also have the opportunity to visit the courts and see them in action.

 

Topics in Semester One include Law and Society, People Structures and Processes, Law-Making and Sports and the Law.

Topics in Semester Two include Justice and Society, Victims and the Law, Motorists and the Law and Young People and the Law.

Assessment:

  • Assessment Type 1: Folio (60%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Issues Study (20%)
  • Assessment Type 3: Presentation (20%)

Pathways:

Stage 1 Legal Studies is a great introduction for those who wish to study Legal Studies at Stage 2, or even Australian and International Politics at Stage 1 or 2. Legal Studies will also benefit those who wish to study Business or Australian History at tertiary level.
