The study of Physics enables students to understand and appreciate the world around them. The fundamentals of Physics creates the foundation of skills and transferable knowledge in problem solving in a vast array of careers, even in a field such as Wine Making. The reason is that much of today’s work requires the use of technology requiring the in-depth understanding of instrument calibrations and the variables that can affect them. Thus, the study of Physics requires the interpretation of physical phenomena, graphing and equation interpretations through a study of motion in two dimensions, electricity and magnetism, light and matter.
In Stage 1 the foundation of concepts and principle use of formula are covered in Stage 2 students will move onto complex conceptual problem solving through the following topics; Motion in Two dimensions, Electric and Magnetic Fields, and Light and Matter.

- One Science as a Human Endeavour investigation
- Assessment Type 2: Skills and Applications Tasks (30%)
- Three topic tests
- One science inquiry skills test
External Assessment (30%)
- Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%)
Pathways:
Physics is a prerequisite into some university or TAFE courses and is assumed knowledge in many others. It can open opportunities for further study and a career in a diverse number of fields such as electrical trades, Engineering, Architecture, Applied Sciences, Medicine and Physiotherapy.
