Visual Art – Art or Design

SACE Credits: 20

Teacher: Angela Facchini

This subject allows you to study visual arts with either a focus on art or design. In studying visual arts, you are expected to conceive, develop and make works of art or design that reflect individuality and a personal aesthetic.

Students demonstrate visual thinking through the development and evaluation of ideas and explorations in technical skills with media and materials. The application of technical skills are used to problem solve and resolve works of art or design as well as analyse, interpret and respond to visual arts in cultural, social, and historical contexts.

Art follows an organic thought process based on free choice concepts, while design focuses on using the design process to produce graphic, product or environmental designs.
