Want to explore the world of fashion and strengthen your design skills?

In this subject you will design, develop and plan items of fashion using varied materials . You will create a variety of solutions for specific briefs using drawings and sketches and then validate a designed solution that best meets the brief.

Students will use hand drawings, Adobe InDesign and other computer programs, sewing machines and a range of techniques to make their designs.

 

Students are expected to conceive, develop, and make designs that reflect individuality, and a personal aesthetic. Students demonstrate visual thinking through the development and evaluation of ideas, and explorations in technical skills with media and materials. This subject will also delve into the types of fabrics used and the environmental impacts that certain fabrics and fashion in general have.

Assessment:

School Based Assessment (70%)

  • Assessment Type 1: Specialised Skills Tasks (20%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Design Process & Product (50%)

 

External Assessment (30%)

  • Assessment Type 3: Resources Study (30%)

Pathways:

This course will prepare students for art and design based University and TAFE courses, particularly fashion design. Students will develop practical skills and critical thinking.
