Research Project

SACE Credits: 10  (compulsory for SACE completion)

Students choose a topic that is of interest to them. It may be linked to a SACE subject or course, or to a workplace or community context. It could be an idea or issue, a technical or practical challenge, an artefact, a problem, or a research question.

 

Their research will follow a specific framework:

  • Initiating, planning, and managing the research;
  • Carrying out the research;
  • Communicating the research outcome and evaluating the research.

 

Students complete their Research Project in Semester 2 of Stage 1, however, the course is run each semester for new students starting at the school that may not have previously completed their Research Project.

Assessment:

School Assessment (70%)

  • Assessment Type 1 Folio (30%).
  • Assessment Type 2 Research outcome (40%)

External Assessment (30%)

  • Assessment Type 3: Evaluation (30%)

Pathways:

The Research Project is designed to further develop students’ research skills. These skills are crucial for when students enter tertiary education.
